GENERAL INFORMATION
ESF operates in UTC, but all deadlines will have a 6 hour buffer to accommodate other timezones. All written work will be hosted on Archive of Our Own, while visual art will stay on Twitter. This round the moderator team consists of MODS SPROUT, SORBET, SHROOM, and FLURRY.
Participants will get access to a private and moderated Discord server, where discussion of works is allowed. ESF will also host a beta event, where writers will get to choose the beta reader best suited for them. All completed works by participants will be generously promoted on ESF’s Twitter account!
WHAT’S CHANGED?
For ROUND FIVE, ESF has a goal of being bigger and better than ever. We have more moderators than ever before, bigger plans than last rounds, and a strong will to make ROUND FIVE the best it can be.
The first change is that we are no longer requiring an obvious seasonal theme in prompts or entries. ESF’s goal is to bring creators together and get through the challenge of participating in a fest, and then use our platform to promote each creator.
The second change has to do with our word count. In short, ROUND FIVE will be a long fic event! The minimum word count for written work during this round is 10 000 words. The writing period has been extended to half a year to accommodate this. That is all!
It’s going to be epic, so join in!

Fanworks must be centered around EXO. Crossover main pairings are not allowed.Seasonal theme does not have to be prominent, but has to be present. All pairing configurations are allowed. The minimum word count is 10 000 words. For artists, the art must be completed and polished, with at least one character and a background.ESF is an anonymous event. Participants may not disclose details of their work to people outside the event, excluding alpha and beta readers.Plagiarism or blatant disregard of our rules will result in one's work being removed from the COLLECTION and their claim to be dropped.Your work has to be created specifically for this fest and must be based on the prompt you picked. It cannot be a sequel to a work you have already posted, nor a remix of an existing work.FIRST CHECK-IN word count minimum is 2 000 words, SECOND CHECK-IN word count minimum is 7 000 words, and FINAL SUBMISSION word count minimum is 10 000 words. For artists, FIRST and SECOND CHECK-IN will be more informal, but we will require that the piece has been started and worked on.Betas will be available around halfway through the round. In case you need an EXTENSION at any point, contact us via email or DM!

Artists will submit a prompt-based piece of visual art with a loose seasonal theme and post it on their own Twitter account with a tweet-long description. Watermarking is highly encouraged. Art postings will not be anonymous due to concerns with art theft. Your piece can be anything, from portraits to comic strips, but fanedits in image or video form will not be accepted. In case your artwork is not digital, a high quality scan or image of your work is mandatory. As writers have a minimum of 10 000 words, we require a completed image with at least one character and a background.

All prompts must be EXO focused. If a main ship is present, it cannot be a crossover. All ship configurations are welcome. No discrimination towards any member, former or current, will be tolerated.Only one pairing per prompt. Do not repeat a prompt with an alternative pairing.Banned topics include: non-con, incest, bestiality. Our fest’s age of consent is 17. All topics that fit under AO3 warnings or are generally accepted as triggering must be stated separately in the prompting form.Prompts submitted must be yours, and cannot have been submitted for another fest prior. Exceptions can be made if said fest has been inactive for over a year or you have permission from the moderators. You may prompt as many times as you wish, as long as they are of substance!

Anyone who wishes to participate can either claim a prompt from the ROUND FIVE ARCHIVE or self-prompt.Claiming is first come; first serve. This means that whoever sent the claiming form first will get their first choice prompt. Each prompt will be available for one writer and one artist. Artist/Writer collaborations are encouraged! If you finish your first entry, you may claim another prompt. After submitting a claiming form, a claiming confirmation email will be sent to you within 48 hours. Once you have read it through, you must confirm your entry by replying; then you can start working. Written work will be published on AO3, so it is advised to have your own account. The mods have spare invitations if the queue is too long! Artists need a Twitter account to participate.
